Detectives Seeking Band of 'Lady' Thieves; Women worked together to distract clerks, steal from their purses

Franklin Police are seeking information on a group of women who distracted store clerks on a Belk sales floor while their partners-in-crime allegedly slipped into a back room and stole items from employees’ purses.

It happened at around noon on Aug. 26 at the Belk Home Store. That is when clerks say between 10 and 15 women kept them busy while others allegedly slipped into an employee-only area and cleaned out their purses. Items taken include wallets, bank cards, sunglasses, and an iPhone. Some of the stolen cards were used at the Galleria Boulevard Target immediately following the theft.

If you have information about these women or their crimes, you could turn that info into cash with a simple call to Crime Stoppers by calling 615-794-4000.
