Franklin Classical School is hosting the Uttermost Challenge 2013 at Shelby Bottom Park Sept. 27 and 28 to raise money for scholarships for children who wish to attend Franklin Classical School but require financial support.

FCS Founder Dr. George Grant pledged to complete 2,013 miles of running, biking and swimming this summer to raise money for the cause. He began a blog at www.crowdrise.com\uttermost\fundraiser\drgrant where he journals his athletic triumphs from May to September with a log of donations that currently equals $14,659. His ultimate goal is to reach $30,000.

To commemorate the end of the challenge, FCS students will join Grant Sept. 27 and 28 to help him complete the last miles of the challenge by way of a 5k, 10k, 1k for grammar school students or a 40-mile bike ride. Students are responsible for finding sponsors and raising money for their participation in the races.

Prominent author Jan Karon author of the Mitford fiction series has donated $5,000 to the challenge fund.

For more information or to donate, visit Grant’s blog or call the school at 615-595-5337.
