FPD responds to small fire at KFC
At 11:36 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, Franklin Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at Kentucky Fried Chicken at 1319 Murfreesboro Road, located right off Exit 65/I-65 in Franklin.
Firefighters from Station 2, Station 6 and Station 1 responded and found that the fire was contained to a storage room on the side of the building.
“The fire was contained to a storage room,” explained A Shift Battalion Chief Todd Horton, “but smoke escaped into the rest of the building because of a vent between the room and the rest of the store. There was no fire damage outside of the room of origin and it will be minimal for the business to get back in operation.”
Because the water heater was damaged, it would be unlikely that KFC could re-open today. The building was not protected by a fire sprinkler system.
