County golfers open State Championships

Fourteen county high school golfers are in Manchester today for practice rounds before the state of the TSSAA state golf championships get under way tomorrow at WillowBrook Golf Course, a 6,100-yard, par 72 course.
 
Both the Brentwood boys’ team and the Ravenwood girls’ team will be competing for the state team title, while the county also has individual qualifiers on the ladies’ side from Brentwood, Independence and Summit and Ravenwood has the lone boys’ individual qualifiers.
 
Courtney Craven, Ann Catherine Blackburn and Haley Schroeder lead the Ravenwood girls’ team into play.  Haley Smith (Independence) and Anna Horn (Summit) will compete for individual honors.
 
On the boys’ side, Brentwood’s entourage includes Chris Tyminski, Cameron Smith, Trevor Johnson, Hayden Goodheart and Will Howard.  Three Ravenwood athletes will compete for individual honors, including Davis Baxter, Brayden Garrison and Hunter Howell.  
 
Practice rounds begin at 9 a.m. this morning, with the first round of the state championship for tomorrow at 8 a.m. and the final round to follow on Wednesday.
