District 12-AAA volleyball tourney opens today at Indy

The District 12-AAA volleyball tournament, considered by many state volleyball programs as the toughest in the TSSAA, opens today at Independence High School in Thompson Station.
 
First round games have Brentwood (#2 seed) takes on Summit (#7 seed) at 4:30 p.m., Centennial (#3 seed) playing Dickson County (#6 seed) at 6 p.m., with Independence (#4 seed) facing Franklin (#5 seed) in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.
 
Regular season champion Ravenwood, who edged out Brentwood on a tie-breaker, gained a first round bye with the title and won’t see action until tomorrow.
 
Finals are scheduled for tomorrow, with the top seed Ravenwood playing the winner of the Independence-Franklin match at 4:30 and the winner of the Brentwood-Summit playing the winner of the Centennial-Dickson County set at 6 p.m. in the semi-finals.  The winners of those games will meet for the title at 7:30 p.m.
