Cheney opens communications’ firm
Communications veteran Jim Cheney has formed Prufrock Communications, LLC — a public relations and marketing firm emphasizing long-term strategy development and tactical implementation.
Cheney brings 17-plus years of corporate communications experience to the venture, with a diverse portfolio of projects in the real estate, health care, technology, education and financial service industries. In addition to strategic planning, Prufrock provides creative consulting, as well as training workshops for in-house marketing teams.
“Having served in both agency and in-house environments, I have identified a highly efficient, cost-effective means of developing and executing marketing strategies,” Cheney said in a release.
“In my opinion, the percentage of the business community that needs the firepower of a big agency is relatively small. On the other hand, there is a much larger number of very exciting companies out there that have more defined budgets and really just need a skilled resource to help meet their marketing objectives. That is where I fit in.”
Most recently, Cheney served as marketing manager for Zehnder Communications, a New Orleans-based communications agency with additional offices in Nashville and Baton Rouge.
Prior to his work with Zehnder, Cheney spent seven years as in-house vice president of communications at Southern Land Company. Cheney began his career in Nashville with Seigenthaler Public Relations, exiting in 2004 as vice president of client services.
