Williams takes the bench

Williamson County Commissioners, in a rare voice vote this week, named former U.S. Attorney and County Commissioner Ernie Williams to temporarily fill the General Sessions Judge, Division I, seat vacated by the retirement of Judge Al Nations. Williams, who easily received a majority of votes at 13-6 over Franklin attorney Lonnie Hoover, will serve out the remainder Nation’s term, which ends in August. He said he has no plans to seek office beyond the appointment. Williams and his late wife Nancy Williams have served the 9th District for more than 20 years. Pam Horne
