Latest play-off info: Centennial out, seven others in
By Joe Williams, Sports Editor
The latest play-off information released by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has seven teams with spots in the tournament this week, down from eight.
Centennial fell out of the top 32 teams in Class 6A with the loss two weeks ago to Independence, but with wins against Dickson County and Franklin could return to the list.
Franklin is ranked fifth in Class 6A and placed in the third quadrant, a #2 seed behind Overton. If the play-offs were held today, the Rebels would most likely host Hendersonville in a first round game. Station Camp, Rossview, McGavock, Overton, Brighton and Arlington are all in quadrant three.
Ravenwood, the current leader in District 11-AAA, is seeded third in quadrant two. Under the current rankings, the Raptors would host a first round game against sixth seed Smyrna.
Independence is also in quadrant two as the seventh seed. That would send the Eagles on the road for a first round game at Blackman, the second trip of the year to the Rutherford County school. Blackman stopped Indy 47-6 September 27th of this year.
Bradley Central, Cookeville, Oakland, and Siegel are also in the quad with Ravenwood and Independence.
Page is currently a sixth seed in quadrant two of Class 4A. If the pairings were set today, the Patriots would be on the road at Signal Mountain, a team the Patriots upset on the road in the first round last year, 42-41. Sequoyah, Chattanooga Central, East Ridge, Hixson, DeKalb County and Giles County are all in quadrant two.
In Class 3A, Fairview is the third seed in the third quadrant, potentially setting up a home game against East Hickman. If it occurs, it will be a rematch of the District 11-AA contest won by Fairview 34-10 just three weeks ago. At the moment, CPA, Lipscomb Academy, East Nashville, Harpeth, Cheatam County and White House Heritage are all in the third quadrant.
In Division II, BGA has a spot in the Class A play-offs, while Brentwood Academy is guaranteed a play-off spot in Class AA.
With two weeks left in the season, all the possibilities could change based on the outcome of games still to be played. The final match-ups will be announced by the TSSAA on Saturday, November 2nd after the final regular season games.
