SOCCER: Its Ravenwood-Franklin (again), Fairview stops Page

An expected rematch between Ravenwood and Franklin for the Region 6-AAA soccer championship was expected.  The absolute ease with which the two teams advanced was not.

Ravenwood, the regular season district champ, cruised by Cane Ridge on the road, 12-1, while Franklin, the district tournament champion, shut out visiting Overton 10-0.

With those wins the stage is set for another potential classic match tonight at 7 p.m. on Franklin’s home field.  Both teams will advance to the state sectionals this weekend, with the winner hosting a sectional game.  Winners of sectional games advance to the state championships.

Fairview is still on the road to the state in Class AA, eliminating old rival Page 3-2.  The Yellow Jackets will meet District 12-AA champion CPA tonight at CPA for the regional title.  Again, both teams advance one more round, with a trip to the state championships awaiting the winner of the next contest.
