Brentwood at top of GNASH standings, faces Hendersonville tonight
By Joe Williams, Sports Editor
Brentwood remains undefeated and at the top of Tier One early in the 2013 Greater Nashville Area Scholastic Hockey (GNASH) season. Sitting 2-0, the Bruins will host Hendersonville tonight at 6:40 p.m. at the A-Game Sportsplex in Coolsprings.
Tier One, made up of former Predator Cup Champions, signifying a state championship, is considered the top level of competition in GNASH, with Tier Two and Tier Three members either growing or starting prep hockey programs.
The Bruins already own wins over Pope John Paul II and Centennial and a win over Hendersonville (0-1) would leave Brentwood on a collision course with undefeated Ravenwood to take control of the Tier One division.
The Raptors (1-0) have an 8:10 p.m. date tonight with Father Ryan (1-1) at A-Game. The Fighting Irish’s lone loss came at the hands of Centennial, a team that lost to Ravenwood 5-3.
The Cougars (1-2) are trying to get back on track after dropping a pair to the ‘Woods. The first step is tonight’s 7:25 contest against Pope John Paul II (0-1).
In Tier Two, Independence-Summit (3-1) sits only one-half game back of leader Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central (4-1) and looks to add to the win column when they face MBA at 8:30 p.m. at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville.
Centennial B (0-3) faces Hume Fogg-Page (1-2) in the nightcap at A-Game at 8:55. Both teams are members of Tier Three.
