The YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee recently hosted its 22nd annual Academy for Women of Achievement celebration and induction dinner at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Nashville. Nearly 700 people gathered to celebrate this year’s honorees.
Those women inducted into the AWA Class of 2013 were: Lauren Brisky, Dr. Vera Stevens Chatman, Becky Harrell, Speaker Beth Harwell, Hope Stringer, Hedy Weinberg and Brenda Wynn. This year’s corporate honoree was the Country Music Association.
Proceeds from the annual event help to fund YWCA programs that help women move from safety to self-sufficiency, including domestic violence services, GED preparation and transitional housing. The YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
