Ravenwood, Fairview, BGA and Page all winners

The regular season ends with more than half of the high schools in Williamson County awaiting word from the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association as to who and where they will play next week in the first round of the state play-offs.

Some helped their cases for higher seeding last night; some did not.

Ravenwood 54 Summit 27
Ravenwood (9-1, 6-0 District 11-AAA), clinging to just a 21-20 lead at half-time, blistered Summit (1-9, 0-6 District 11-AAA) for 27-third quarter points as the Raptors pulled away for a 57-24 win.

Avery Jankowski threw for 222 yards on 14-of-21 passing, including nine to Van Jefferson for 159 yards to lead the Raptors.  In an unusual twist, Jefferson hit Jankowski on a five-yard touchdown.  Seven different players carried the ball, as Ravenwood notched 177 yards on the ground.

Summit’s Dee Hunter threw for 187-yards and two touchdowns.

The win could improve Ravenwood’s seeding from a three to a two when brackets are announced.

Fairview 57 Waverly 7
Hunter Zimmerman had 4 passing scores, Hunter Myatt added two more on the ground and Fairview (9-1, 7-1 District 11-AA)  prepared for the Class 3A play-offs with a 57-7 Senior Night win over Waverly (1-9, 0-8 District 11-AA).

Nic Harvey and Mike Jordan caught two scores each and Dreshad Moore added one rushing as the Yellow Jackets rolled up 385 yards in offense while holding Waverly to less than 150.

The win should solidify Fairview as a number two seed at worst, with a possibility of a top seed when the brackets are announced Saturday morning.

BGA 42 FRA 7
Battle Ground Academy (7-3, 3-0 Division II-A Middle) exploded for 35 unanswered points and completed an undefeated season in Division II-A Middle with a 42-7 win over visiting Franklin Road Academy (5-5, 2-1 Division II-A Middle).

Cole Grosvenor hit 10-of-17 for 217 yards and 3 first half touchdowns, adding 59 yards on the ground, in leading the Wildcats to victory.  Ronald Cleveland came up just short of 100 yards rushing, finishing with 96 on 15 carries while scoring twice.

With the win, BGA is guaranteed a top seed in the Division II-A play-offs.

Page 27 Spring Hill 12
Matt Fornero hit Michael Roberts for a 30-yard touchdown and Mason Smith for a 50-yarder, both in the fourth quarter, to break open a close game as Page (5-5, 2-3 District 12-AA) defeated Spring Hill (1-9, 0-5 District 12-AA) 27-12.

The Patriots trailed 12-6 in the third before Fornero launched a 77-yard bomb to Roberts for a change in the lead.  Fornero ended the night 5-of-8 for 165 yards.  Zak Mizell threw for 108 yards and a touchdown in the first half.

Page should get a spot in the Class 4A play-offs with the win, but will probably be on the road in the first round.
