Save the Franklin Battlefield annual meeting set for Nov. 14

 
The Annual Membership Meeting of Save The Franklin Battlefield, Inc. will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Otey Hall, in Franklin.
 
The event starts at 6 p.m. with a full dinner buffet at 6:30 p.m.  A short business meeting will begin immediately after dinner, followed by speaker Brian Allison, a Nashville native and graduate of Austin Peay State University who has served on the staff of the historic Carnton Plantation and most recently as curator of Traveler’s Rest. 
 
Allison will speak on “Quarles’ Brigade at the Battles of Franklin and Nashville.” In the Battle of Franklin, Quarles’ Brigade, as a unit of Walthall’s Division, advanced across the Loring’s Advance property before engaging the Federal defense line.
 
The business meeting will include the election of Board Members and a review of STFB activities. The meeting also will include the presentation of STFB’s Tennie Pinkerton Dozier Award to a local resident who has provided invaluable service to battlefield preservation.
 
The cost of the dinner is $25 per person with payment in advance, no later than Monday, Nov. 11.  Seating is limited, so please get your check in early to: STFB, P.O. Box 851, Franklin, TN 37065. Please call Sam Huffman at 615-480-9539 with questions.
