City Streets Department announces leaf collection schedule
The City of Franklin’s Street Department announced a schedule for bulk loose-leaf collection this week.
Raked and un-bagged leaves left at the curb will be collected by the Streets’ fleet of leaf vacuum trucks that operates on five separate routes each week.
Residents living in each route should expect leaf collection every 5 to 7 days.
The City is divided into five collection zones, with each zone having a scheduled day of the week for collection.
Monday is the red zone; Tuesday, blue zone; Wednesday, yellow zone; Thursday, purple zone; and Friday, green zone. To see what zone your neighborhood or street is in, go to www.franklintn.gov
During the week of Thanksgiving the department will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
Residents living in Purple & Green Zones can expect their leaves to be collected the following week.
Leaf Collection tips
• On day of collection leaves should be raked curbside by 6:30 a.m.
• Rake leaf piles as close to the streets edge as possible
• Keep leaves away from storm water catch basins; it increases the risk of flooding
• Leaf piles mixed with branches and grass trimmings will not be collected
• Do not park vehicles on top of leaf piles
Yard waste that is bagged in biodegradable paper bags will be picked up by the City’s Sanitation Department during regular garbage pick-up. Brown bags can only be used for leaves, grass trimmings, small twigs and shrub trimmings.
Bags should be placed at least five feet from your roll-out container. Please do not place stones, rocks, dirt or household waste inside the biodegradable paper bags.
