The American Red Cross is proud to partner with the Lotz House of Franklin, TN for a blood drive on the anniversary of the Battle of Franklin. The Lotz House was in the epicenter of the bloodiest hours of the Battle of Franklin that occurred on November 30, 1864. Thousands of lives were lost and the home was turned into a makeshift hospital to help the injured.

To honor the memory of the lives that were lost and to help those currently in their own battle, the Red Cross team will be collecting life-saving blood at The Lotz House on November 30, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lotz House Executive Director J.T. Thompson said, “Every day when we give guided tours telling the compelling story of the Battle of Franklin and how it affected the lives of the people who lived here, we’re taking visitors back in time to understand the toll it took on the soldiers and their families. By hosting the Red Cross blood drive, it brings relevance to our everyday lives and gives us a way to participate and take action to help those in need today.”

Every two seconds, a patient in the U.S., needs blood. The only way to provide lifesaving blood is through the generosity of donors who give an hour of their day to roll up a sleeve and donate.

All presenting donors will receive a voucher for a free tour of the historic Lotz House.
