Food drive underway at WCPR sites through Dec. 14

According to Tom Henry, director of Feed America First, over 7,000 children are considered “at risk” for hunger every day in Williamson County. Families and individuals have an opportunity to donate to a food drive now underway at four Williamson County Parks and Recreation locations.
Donations will be accepted at four Williamson County recreation centers through Dec. 14 at the following locations: the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road; the Indoor Sports Complex at 920 Heritage Way in Brentwood; the Fairview Recreation Complex, 2714 Fairview Blvd.; and the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive.
Desired items include spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, canned chicken, boxed chicken dinners, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, jelly, canned fruit, applesauce, cereal and oatmeal, mixed vegetables, green beans and soups.
Collected items will be distributed in 25-pound holiday food baskets to over 50 needy Williamson County families. For more information about Feed America First, please visit
