Deadline for applying to Young Leaders Council 2014 extended to January 1

Young Leaders Council (YLC), a Nashville-based nonprofit organization that has trained more than 2,000 men and women to effectively participate on the boards of nonprofit agencies for the past 28 years, has extended its application deadline for its 2014 Williamson County class to Jan. 1.

Partnering with Williamson County Young Professionals (WCYP) for the second year in a row, YLC will provide training to young professionals, ages 25-40 years, who are members of the Williamson County Chamber of Commerce, in eleven weekly sessions, beginning February 4, 2014. Young professionals interested in applying should do so online at to be eligible for the 2014 class. The  participation fee is $475.
Each session, meeting on consecutive Tuesdays through April 15, will meet from 8:00-10:30 a.m. at the Williamson County Chamber's office in Franklin and will cover board member responsibilities, strategic planning, nonprofit financials, legal responsibilities, conflict resolution, fundraising, and effective meetings, all of which are crucial skills needed for today’s nonprofit leadership roles.

The graduates of the program will then serve a one-year internship on a local nonprofit board to put their newfound skills into action. The first session on February 4 will be an opening luncheon at Jackson National in Franklin from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
