The Tennessee Air National Guard's Joint Force Headquarters staff collected items for 40 local children as part of the Salvation Army's annual Angel Tree project.

"There are a lot of kids who wouldn't have a Christmas present if not for this program," said Chief Master Sgt. Buffy Burton, Superintendent, Knowledge Operations, Tennessee Air National Guard, Joint Force Headquarters.

Chief Burton has supported the Angel Tree Project for many years, and has been able to get support from her fellow Airmen for the last three years. This year, they supported 40 Angels.

"The last two years, we have only supported 25 Angels, so this year is definitely the most we have been able to help so far," said Burton.

"It's a wonderful feeling to be able to help others, especially during the Christmas season," said Brig. Gen. Donald Johnson, Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Tennessee National Guard. "When the Chief asked, I immediately said yes! As Guard members, helping others is what we do."

In addition to helping the Angels this holiday season, the Air National Guard's Headquarters staff is also served people at the Nashville Rescue Mission tomorrow.

"It is important for our National Guard family to give back to families in the community who have always supported us," said Johnson. "As National Guardsmen, we are citizen Airmen, and we serve the citizens of the state through more than just military actions, by giving to the local communities in which we serve."
