Brentwood girls, Ravenwood boys fall at Beech
By Doug Dyer, for the Herald
The Brentwood girls suffered their first loss of the season Monday night, missing a last-second layup attempt and falling 34-33 to Farragut in the Beech Holiday Tournament championship.
Jenna Roy led all scorers with 12 points in a low-scoring, defensive affair. The Lady Bruins (13-1) trailed 20-17 at the
midway point but outscored the Lady Admirals 7-2 in the first four minutes of the third to take a two-point lead at 24-22.
Farragut shot just 6-of-26 in the second half but came up with points at crucial times, including Madison Maples' bucket with 2:40 left that gave the Admirals the lead for good.
After being down 13 points at halftime Monday night, the Ravenwood boys rallied to take a two-point lead against McGavock before falling in the final moments, 70-67, in the Beech Holiday Tournament's 3rd place final.
Matt Hailey had 18 points in the losing effort for the Raptors (10-6), who shot 10-of-12 in the third quarter to close the gap after being unable to execute in the first half.
Hailey scored 14 of his 18 in the final two quarters.
