Franklin man suffers fatal accident in Thompsons Station

Brian O. Johnson, 35, suffered fatal injury from a car crash this morning that occurred in Thompson’s Station.

According to the Tennessee Motor Vehicle Fatality Report, Johnson was traveling east in his 1993 Honda Accord on Harpeth Peytonsville Road when he ran off the right side of the road and struck a culvert. The vehicle then became airborne over Herbert Smithson Road striking a utility pole. The vehicle then rolled over on the driver’s side and caught on fire. Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

The investigator did not discover any alcohol or drugs on the scene or on the victim’s person, Dalya Qualls, Tennesee Department of Transportation spokesperson said. However, the department requested toxicology tests to determine if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in the crash.

“This is procedure on all fatal crashes investigated by the THP,” Qualls said.
