BGA splits with Zion Christian on Saturday

Battle Ground Academy’s basketball teams split a double header on Saturday night with Zion Christian as the boys took a 91-42 victory and the girls suffered a heartbreaking 44-39 loss.

The Lady Wildcats looked to have the game in hand at half-time, holding a 27-10 lead, but starting slow on defense and offense in the second half snatch away the victory.  Zion outscored BGA 22-5 in the third quarter then added a 12-5 run in the fourth to win the game.

Allison Cowie scored 14 to lead BGA, and Caroline Abbott added 10.

In the boys contest, BGA exploded for 59 first half points (33 in the first quarter alone) before putting Zion away 91-42.  Zach Wracher poured in 16 points, including 3-of-4 three pointers, helped by Nathan Moran’s 14 points and 6 assists.  Ronald Cleveland added six boards to his 12 points, the same point production as Sam Martin.  Noah Mayberry chipped in eleven.
