WGU Tennessee hires new public relations director

Kirk Graves, former communications director for the Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation, has joined WGU Tennessee as public relations director. Graves will be based out of WGU Tennessee’s Cool Springs headquarters.

In his new role, Graves will be responsible for crafting a comprehensive branding and messaging strategy for WGU Tennessee, publicizing its tremendous value for potential students, employers, partners, and other key audiences.

“We’ve made a lot of progress in spreading the word about WGU Tennessee since our launch just three months ago,” said Dr. Kimberly K. Estep, chancellor of WGU Tennessee. “Having someone of Kirk’s talent and experience on board will help us take our public relations and marketing efforts to an even higher level.”

Graves signed a book deal last year with international publisher Bloomsbury Press to contribute a volume to its acclaimed 33⅓ book series. His previous employment experience includes serving as an account executive for the Bradford Group, where he worked on successful PR and advertising campaigns for tech and entrepreneurial companies. Prior to that, he worked in the community development department of Nashville nonprofit Alive Hospice.

A Middle Tennessee native, Graves received his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in 2003.
