Franklin goes to Independence tonight for key match-ups on both the girls and boys side of the ledger.
The Lady Rebels (9-6, 4-1 District 11-AAA) are solidly in second place in the district standings, holding a two-game over the Lady Eagles (5-10, 2-3 District 11-AAA). Indy is hoping to break out of a log jam bundled in third that includes not only the Eagles, but also Dickson County and Ravenwood.
Franklin will continue to depend on Anna Patton (10.6 ppg), Jodi Hill (8.8 ppg) and Meredith Ovies (8 ppg) for offense. Indy counters with Katie Pierce (13.5 ppg) and Avery Wharton (10.1 ppg). Regan Croff has been adding 8.7 ppg.
The girls’ contest tips off at 6 p.m.
On the boy’s side, Indy is riding a three-game winning streak, moving to 3-2 in District 11-AAA. Franklin sits a deceptive 2-3 on the district season, having lost to to distrit leaders Brentwood and Ravenwood a total of 12 points and dropping a heartbreaking three-point decision to Centennial after leading most of the game.
The Rebels bring a balanced offense to the contest, led by Garrison Mathews (13.9 ppg). He gets support offensively from Joe Critchlow (9.4 ppg) and Ben Hagaman (7.9 ppg). For Independence, Deion Sims (14.8 ppg) and Grayson Murphy (11.0 ppg) have led the offensive charge, while Finis Stribling (7.3 ppg) has been a major factor on the boards and the defensive end of the floor.
Other games in the county tonight include Ravenwood hosting Dickson County, Creek Wood at Fairview, Cascade at Page, and Summit at Centennial.
In north Franklin, the state’s number one boys squad in Division II A, BGA, hosts University School of Nashville immediately following a contest between the schools’ girls teams and Brentwood Academy sends their teams in different directions, with the girls at home against Harpeth Hall while the boys travel to MBA.
