Obituary: George C. Ribley

George C. Ribley, age 91, of Spring Hill, Tenn., passed away Jan. 13, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Ribley was a 1940 graduate of Ravena High School. George served in the U.S. Marine Corp. for 34 years, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was also a former member of the Greater Syracuse Detachment Marine Corp. League and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 7290 in N. Syracuse. He was a member of the Mule Town Detachment Marine Corp. League in Columbia, Tenn. and a life member of the DAV, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 19 in Columbia, Tenn. 

 
Ribley was preceded in death by parents, Christian and Julia K. Hotaling Ribley; brothers, Harry, William and Staats Ribley. 
Survived by wife of 69 years, Mary Virginia Denver Ribley of Spring Hill, Tenn.; son, James Edward (Margaret) Ribley of Spring Hill, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brad Edward (Rochelle) Ribley of Columbia, Tenn. and Barbara Ann (Robert) Widay of Spring Hill, Tenn.; great grandchildren, Nathan Ribley, Robert Widay and Trent (Neeley) Thomson; great great grandchild, Gracelyn Thomson and several nieces and nephews. 
 
Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Father Davis Chackaleckel officiating with visitation one hour prior. Memorials may be sent to the Sisters of St. Joseph in Lathams, NY or to the Disabled Veterans.
