Franklin Alderman Clyde Barnhill was honored this week at the Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting by Ed Cagle and Hertha Hines, representing the J.L. Clay Senior Center Board of Directors.
Barnhill, who recently announced his retirement from the J.L. Clay, was recognized for his eight years of service as the center’s executive director. “Alderman Barnhill I and the rest of the board would publicly like to say thank you for your service and leadership,” Cagle said.
Barnhill, who has served in numerous civic positions over the past three decades, was first elected alderman in 1988. He currently serves as an at-large member of the city’s governing board. For more than 25 years he worked for CPS Industries, a gift-wrap manufacturer formerly located on Columbia Ave.
