Obituary: Justice Hyde
Justice Hyde, age 93 of Franklin, Tenn., passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 18, 2014. Hyde was born in Coopertown, Tenn. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII and the National Guard. He retired as a Major. He was employed with Bell South and retired in 1981 as an Independent Company Relations Manager.
A member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church for more than 40 years, he loved his church where he served in many active roles including as a Sunday school teacher. He also helped establish the first annual Fish Fry. He was an active member of the Cool Springs Kiwanis Club and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by parents, George Washington and Grace Winters Hyde; sister, Grace V. Hyde; and first wife, Rebecca Jagoe Hyde. Survived by wife, Emogene Stephens Ownby-Hyde; daughters, Joanne (Tony) Avans, Jeanne Hyde, Donna (Dan) Buselmeier; sons, Justice (Carolyn) Hyde, Jr., Fred (Beverly) Hyde, Ed (Sheila) Hyde; step children, Susanne (Jimmie) Johnson, Marijane (David) McQuiddy, Jere (Melissa) Ownby, III, Christopher (Cathy) Ownby; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and seven step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Rev. Ryan Bennett, Rev. Edd Templeton, Dr. James Hughes and Rev. David Bradley officiating. Interment, Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Grandsons to serve as pallbearers.
