Grassland Middle students build BB roller coasters
Mrs. Robinson’s seventh grade science students at Grassland Middle School built roller coasters using plastic tubing and BB’s. The classes have been studying speed, velocity and acceleration. Meter sticks were used to determine the stop height of the roller coasters and groups learned how air resistance and friction take energy away from the coaster. Students studied what makes a roller coaster work and considered factors that create the best roller coasters. Pictured are Cate Tucker, Jack Peterson, and Olivia Neal.
