Franklin at Centennial boys, Dickson Co. at Brentwood girls top slate

Franklin heads to Centennial tomorrow night with more than just seeding for the district tournament on their mind-the Rebels will be seeking revenge.

The Cougars (7-10, 2-5 in District 11-AAA) knocked the Rebels (8-11, 4-4) out of a possible share of third place in the district with a 49-46 win at Franklin three weeks ago.  The Cougars had three double-digit scorers (Drew Joiner 11, Tyrel Dodson and Bruer Atkinson, 10 each) while holding Franklin’s leading scorer Garrison Mathews to just a single three-pointer.

A win could put Franklin back in the hunt for seeding in the district tournament, while a loss could lead to the Rebels and Cougars passing each other in the standings.

After an impressively dominating upset performance Tuesday night at Ravenwood, Independence (8-12, 4-3), currently holding down third place in the district, hosts rival Summit (7-10, 2-5).  The Eagles ran away with the first game 50-36 as Deion Sims and Finis Stribling combined for 24 points.

Ravenwood (13-8, 6-2), looking to rebound from the unexpected blow-out loss at home, steps outside of the district to host Nashville Central Christian (13-7).

League leading Brentwood (21-1, 7-0) returns home to face Dickson County, a team the Bruins beat by 21 earlier in the year.

BGA (20-1, 7-0) will be defending their number one state ranking when Davidson Academy (4-12, 1-6) comes to call.

In other boys action, Brentwood Academy (7-12, 1-3) travels to Father Ryan (6-10, 2-2), Fairview (4-13, 2-9) goes to Montgomery Central (8-9, 5-5) and Spring Hill (5-10, 1-4) is at Page (8-11, 0-5).

In girls’ action, Brentwood (21-1, 7-0) will try to keep their unblemished record intact against third place Dickson County (13-7, 4-4).  The Cougars pushed Brentwood to overtime three weeks ago in the closest game the Bruins have faced in the district before Marisa Anthony’s game winning shot gave them a 66-64 win.

Summit (7-12, 2-5) traveling to Independence (5-12, 2-5) will result in one of those teams moving into sole possession of fifth place in the district.

Elsewhere, Nashville Central Christian (8-11) is at Ravenwood (6-11, 4-4), Brentwood Academy (15-3, 3-1) goes to Father Ryan (14-5, 2-2), Fairview (0-17, 0-11) travels to Montgomery Central (5-13, 1-9), Franklin (11-8, 6-2) is at Centennial (8-12, 1-6), Page (3-12, 1-4) hosts Spring Hill (6-9, 2-3) and BGA (10-11, 4-4) is at home against Davidson Academy (4-13, 2-6).
