Obituary: James Garland Petway, Sr.

James Garland Petway, Sr., age 89, Jan. 22, 2014.  He attended Franklin Elementary and Battle Ground Academy.  Petway served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He also worked with the Veteran’s Hospital and St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville as an X-Ray Technician for 30 years. 

He was preceded in death by son, James “Jim” Garland Petway, Jr.; sisters, Marie Moseley, Dorothy Driskill and Jean Burrow.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Willodene Churchwell Petway; daughter, Penny (Larry) Brooks; daughter-in-law Terri Petway; sister Sally Stroud; grandchildren Larry, Lucas and Lauren Brooks and Jake, Cole and Victoria Petway.  
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.  Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Larry Sr., Larry Jr. and Lucas Brooks, Jake and Cole Petway, Bobby Russell and Bobby Moseley. Memorials may be made to Berry’s Chapel Church of Christ Building Fund or Churches of Christ Disaster Relief. 
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 615 794-2289.
