Ravenwood, Brentwood return to state wrestling championships

Ravenwood continued its roll through the mid-state in wrestling, defeating District 12-AAA runner-up McGavock 43-26 then stopped district-mate Brentwood in the finals of the Region 6-AAA wrestling tournament in Nashville yesterday.
 
Brentwood made the region finals by beating District 12-AAA champion Overton 39-28.  In the finals, Ravenwood, ranked eighth in the state, served notice on the field by beating the Bruins 40-20 to take the region title.
 
The state duals championships, as the team competition is called, are scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Williamson County Ag/Expo Center on Long Lane.
