Defending TSSAA State Bowling Champion Kamron Doyle of Brentwood is back in the state finals.
The sophomore averaged over 200 in the four games of the semi-final round and is apparently set to face Columbia’s Austin Harrington in his first match of the finals at Smyrna Bowling Center this morning at 8:30. To win a second straight title, Doyle will need to win five straight matches.
Matthew Butler of Summit and Brock Connolly were knocked out in the quarter-final round, while Summit’s Camden Gutshall finished 13th in the semi-finals, ending his tournament run.
On the girls’ side, Independence junior Brandi Shelich and Centennial senior Maddie Bowman fought their way into the semi-finals before exiting the tournament. Ashley Wagner just missed making the semi-finals in her last event as a Page Patriot, as Centennial’s Marisa Gunthert was also eliminated in the quarter-final round.
Individual champions will be named by noon today, while the team competition for both boys and girls in Division I and Division II will continue through Saturday. There are no Williamson County teams remaining in the competition.
