Doyle falls short of repeating as state bowling champ

Brentwood sophomore Kamron Doyle had the unenviable task of winning five straight matches to repeat as the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association’s Division I state bowling champion this morning.  The task was considered by many to be almost impossible.

It was.

Doyle started out strong at Smyrna Bowling Center, defeating Columbia High senior Austin Harrington 212-127.  He then knocked out Harrington’s teammate, Jonathan Colbaugh 236-200.

But Doyle struggled in the third match, falling to Hendersonville’s Zach Hearing 190-151. With the loss, Doyle finished fourth in the state after winning the title his freshman year.

Columbia freshman Cole Flatt won the title, defeating top seed Aaron Ruiz of Cane Ridge 217-188.
