Casada announced re-election candidacy for state house

State Rep. Glen Casada officially announced he will seek reelection for state representative of the 63rd House District of Tennessee.

“After careful thought, consultation with my family, and encouragement from the voters of District 63, today I am once again declaring my candidacy for the Republican nomination for state representative,” said Casada last week.

Casada, who currently resides in Thompson Station, is a lifelong conservative and was first elected to the state’s House of Representatives in 2001.

“Over the last four years, our Republican majority has spearheaded legislation to cut taxes, ensure employers find Tennessee an attractive destination for their businesses and implemented reforms to reinvigorate the state’s education system to better train the next generation of Tennessee workers,” said Rep. Casada. “If reelected, I pledge to continue working with Gov. Haslam and my colleagues in the state Legislature to make our community an even better place to live, work and raise a family.”

Glen and his wife Jill are members of Brentwood Baptist Church. They have four grown children and one granddaughter.

He works in sales for an animal health company.

Since being elected, Casada has championed countless conservative causes, including sponsoring legislation to ban a statewide income tax, fighting to protect traditional values and the unborn, and leading the way in cutting government waste and regulations to help businesses across the state grow and thrive.

When asked why he has decided to seek reelection, Casada replied, “It has truly been one of the greatest experiences of my life to represent the people of District 63 over the last 12 years. I am completely humbled by the trust our community has placed in me and hope to continue my bold, conservative leadership as Chairman of the House Republican Caucus by articulating the cutting of taxes, the shrinking of the size of government and supporting those traditional values that made this state and country the greatest civilization to ever exist. I will not hide behind platitudes or political rhetoric and you will always know what I think and where I stand on important issues—that is my promise to you.”

Glen serves as Chairman of the Tennessee House Republican Caucus. He is a member of the House Insurance and Banking Committee, as well as the Government Operations; Human and Consumer Resources; and Calendar and Rules Committees. He represents District 63, which encompasses eastern Williamson County. He can be reached by e-mail at Rep.Glen.Casada@capitol.tn.gov or by calling (615) 741-4389.
