Div. II-A District Tourney: BGA boys advance, girls to consolation game

Battle Ground Academy’s boys and girls basketball teams found different results last night, as the boys advanced to the championship game of the Division II-A District 2 tournament and the girls dropped to the consolation game.
Nathan Moran poured in 33 points, including nine three-pointers, to lead the Wildcat boys to a 91-30 destruction of University School of Nashville. Cole Grosvenor and Andrew Wade both added 9 points to the total and Zac Wracher and Myles Taylor chipped in 8 apiece.
The Wildcats will face Franklin Road Academy tonight in the 8 p.m. championship game. The Panthers rolled over Hendersonville Christian 78-32 to set up a third game between the two this season. BGA won both previous meetings, 70-64 and 71-61.
University School and Hendersonville Christian will play in the boys consolation game at 5 p.m.
BGA’s girls will open today’s action against St. Cecelia at 3:30 p.m. in the girls’ consolation game after dropping their opening game to FRA last night, 53-46. BGA held a 13-point lead going into the fourth quarter before FRA roared back, outscoring the Wildcats 25-5.
Senior Caroline Abbott scored 19 for the Wildcats and Sarah Puryear nailed five three-pointers to finish with 15. Freshman standout Allison Cowie was held to just 7 points.
University School and FRA will meet for the girls’ title at 6:30 p.m., following the consolation game. All games are being played at the Cherry Sports Complex on the BGA campus.
