Page surprises, BGA falls

There were surprises galore on a full moon weekend for local basketball teams.

Page 58 at Giles County 52
Page, winless in the regular season, shocked third seed Marshall County 92-84 in double overtime last Tuesday in the opening round of the District 12-AAA tournament before losing to Cascade Friday night.  The Patriots then took down Giles County in Pulaski Saturday night 58-52 to take third place in the tournament.

Christian Denton scored 22 points for the Patriots in the win and Dylan White added 15.  Page will now advance to the Region 6-AA tournament later this week.

At Knoxville Webb 69 BGA 67-OT
A late Webb bucket pushed the championship game of the Division II East/Middle Regional tournament into overtime where BGA could not duplicate the feat, falling 69-67 on the road.

Nathan Moran had 22 point and Andrew Cowie 14 in the loss.  BGA should host a sectional contest this week, where a win would propel the Wildcats into the state tournament at Lipscomb’s Allen Arena.

At Brentwood Academy 55 Father Ryan 50
The Eagles forced overtime with a fourth-quarter comeback then outscored Father Ryan in the extra session to take a 55-50 win Saturday night.  Jordan James (14 pts) and Jeremiah Oatsvall (10) led Brentwood Academy.
