Kick-a-thon fund raiser for Garstin Saturday

Fund raising efforts continue on behalf of injured Independence Hgh School wrestler Hunter Garstin and his family as the athlete continues to make progress and recover from a spinal injury in Atlanta.

Saturday, Franklin Tae Kwon Do Academy, in the Maples Shopping Center on Highway 96 East, will hold a “Kick-a-thon” to help raise funds.  Similar to a walk-a-thon, students have gathered pledges and will earn twenty-five per kick.  In addition, board breaking challenges are planned along with other efforts to raise funds.

The event, which starts at 10 a.m., is being hosted by Jack Smithson, owner and chief instructor at Franklin Tae Kwon Do and a director of the Tennessee Martial Arts Association.  The public is invited to visit and watch.
