BA announces National Merit Scholarship finalists
Andrew Wilson, Allison Cheeseman, and Madison Renner were recently notified they are among the 15,000 seniors in the nation who have advanced to Finalist standing in the National Merit Scholarship awards. All National Merit Scholarship winners will be selected from this group of Finalists. Merit Scholar designees are selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies, without regard to gender, race, ethnic origin, or religious preference.
Wilson is an active member of the forensics team and theater program. He has participated in Youth in Government for four years and currently serves as governor. He was nominated by BA to represent the school at the 2013 Boys’ State and is an elected county executive.
Cheeseman is an active member of BA’s student leadership team, Big Brother/Big Sister program, the Flight magazine staff, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has served as an admission ambassador for four years and competed with the math team for three years. She has earned the title of individual state champion in varsity cross country two years in a row and earned a track scholarship to Davidson College, where she also was awarded the prestigious Amos Norris Scholarship, awarded to one candidate only once every four years. Allison has received numerous academic and athletic honors during her time at BA and has also served in several service and ministry positions.
Renner is an accomplished artist and the recipient of more than 25 academic honors and awards at Brentwood Academy. She is a four-year member of the math and quiz bowl teams and has served as an admission ambassador, Big Sister, and member of the Flight magazine staff and outdoor club. She was selected two years in a row by the mayor’s office to represent Nashville in the city of Caen, France as a youth ambassador. She is also the youth advisory board president for Sister Cities of Nashville. She has served in Ghana and Honduras with mission work organizations and is a member of the Eagles’ varsity track team.
