The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and a Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

According to a press release issued by the WCSO, the accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 840 near the Peytonsville Road exit.

The WCSO received a call about a possible rolling domestic disturbance on I-840. A second call came in about a man walking on the interstate in the same area.

The deputy responding to the calls was reportedly traveling eastbound on I-840 when a man ran out into the highway in front of the patrol car and was struck. The man died from his injuries.

The deputy is on administrative leave, according to the WCSO, while the THP investigates.
