Patricia “Pat” Miller Dickens

Patricia “Pat” Miller Dickens, 67, of Franklin and formerly of Bristol, Va., died Sept. 4, 2009. 

She was preceded in death by parents, James Lafayette and Roberta Elizabeth Miller.  Mrs. Dickens is survived by son, James W. Dickens, Franklin; sister, Pam (Wayne) Lawson, Bristol; grandson, Raymond James Dickens, Portland, Ore.; nieces, Suzanne Wills, Bomberg, Germany and Kristi Lawson, Bristol; and loving friends and family.

Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, Abingdon, Va.; Jim Taylor officiated. Pallbearers were James “Jay” Dickens, Wayne Lawson, Billy Joe White, Richard Wills, Duane Talley and Lee Shaffer. 

Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.

Esther Gertrude Phenicie

Esther Gertrude Phenicie, 95, of Arrington, died Sept. 2, 2009.  

She was preceded in death by parents, William and Marina Dutton Wintgens and her husband, Robert E. Phenicie. Mrs. Phenicie is survived by son, R. William (Judy) Phenicie of Burlington, Wisc.; daughter, Ellen (Jon) Hoover of Arrington; grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle) Phenicie, Erin (Tom) Bevington, and Marcus Hoover, Jacob (Jennifer) Hoover; and great grandchildren, Michael and Samantha Phenicie, Kendric, Garric and Madison Hoover. 

Memorial services will be conducted, 3 p.m.,  Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Dr. Tom Moucka officiating. 

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or charity of one’s choice.

Clifton Lee Barnes

Clifton Lee Barnes, 82 of Franklin, died Sept. 4, 2009.

Mr. Barnes was born in Memphis and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the American Theatre Medal. He was a retired machinist with International Harvester. He was a member of Graceland Community Church. 

He is survived by wife, Elmarie Barnes; sons, Rocky (Marsha) Barnes and Bruce (Pam) Bateman; daughter, Sherry (David) Hernandez; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home; Bro. Ralph Duncan officiated. Burial followed in Graceland Community Cemetery.  Church friends served as pallbearers. 

Memorials may be made to Graceland Community Church.

Leroy Clinton Treadway

Leroy Clinton Treadway, 83 of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

He was the son of the late Homer Lee Treadway and Nancy Buzzard Treadway. Mr. Treadway was a native of West Virginia and a retired employee of the Essex Corporation.

He is survived by his children Gary Treadway of Shelbyville, Mike Treadway of College Grove, Jancie Gordon of Fairview, and Letha Waller of Thompson’s Station; sisters Joyce Heater of Salisbury, North Carolina, Carol Gillespi or Waynesville, Ohio and brother Ralph Treadway of Meadow Bridge, West Virgina; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 from Gowen-Smith Chapel. Funeral services for Mr. Treadway were Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 from Gowen-Smith conducted by Bro. Larry Hammonds and Tommy Chattin. Burial followed in Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville.
