FPD's Rahinsky named department's new assistant chief by Moore

Franklin Police Chief Jackie Moore today promoted Deputy Chief David Rahinsky to the post of assistant chief in the department.

Rahinsky joined the Franklin Police Department after serving as chief of the city of Oakland Park and chief of the city of Pembroke Park in Florida.

Before his promotion, Rahinsky served as deputy chief over operations, while Deputy Chief Mike Jordan supervised criminal investigations and Deputy Chief Bruce Bateman supervised administration.

Tuesday, Franklin’s Board of Mayor and Alderman approved Moore’s request for the creation of an assistant police chief position.

Moore approached the board and City Administrator Eric Stuckey with the request in recognition that, over time, the Franklin Police Department has grown significantly in terms of size and complexity and the department needed a clearly defined second-in-command who would have command authority in absence of the Moore and oversight of day-to-day operations.

The new position was open to qualified internal applicants. Bateman and Rahinsky submitted their letters of interest to the Moore.

“Both highly qualified applicants are outstanding leaders with proven track records in upper-level management,” said Moore. “My decision was by no means easy, and included thoughtful consideration of the law-enforcement management experience possessed by both.”

Rahinsky began his law enforcement career in Philadelphia in 1987. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University and is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy as well as the Executive Leadership Program from the Center for Advanced Criminal Justice Studies.
