Parks and Rec facilities closed for Presidents’ Day
In observance of Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 15, all Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department facilities will be closed.
Facilities will reopen at their next regularly scheduled times beginning Tuesday, Feb.16.
Girls youth softball registration at Fairview Rec Complex
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is forming a girls softball leagues for ages 7 to 17 at the Fairview Recreation Complex. Registration is underway through Feb. 12. Late registration will be allowed Feb. 13-19 with a $20 additional late fee. A birth certificate is required. County rules will apply for softball. Practices will be held once each week at the Fairview Ball Park on Highway 96 and games will be held throughout the county once or twice a week based on league numbers and field availability. Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department will provide uniforms. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $50 per child payable to the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department, plus $30 payable to The Goal Post of Dickson for uniforms. Fees are due at sign-up. Practices start March 1 and the season begins March 29.
Mens basketball league at Fairview Rec Complex
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department announces the formation of a mens basketball league at the Fairview Recreation Complex. The season will begin Tuesday, March 2 for Division A and Wednesday, March 8 for Division B. Games will be played at the Fairview Recreation Complex.
Team registration is required. Cost is $400 per team. The deadline for team registration is Friday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. To register, pick up a team registration form at the Fairview Recreation Complex. The coaches meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m.

February classes at Fairview Recreation Complex
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of ongoing classes at the Fairview Recreation Complex, located at 2714 Fairview Blvd.. Classes require pre-registration. We are a public organization, here to benefit the community. No membership required. Anyone can register for and participate in our classes – even if you don’t have a facility pass.

Zumba: Combining hypnotic musical rhythms and tantalizing Latin dance moves, Zumba is a dynamic workout system designed to be fun and easy. Zumba will meet, Mondays, through Feb. 22, 7-8 p.m. (no class on Feb. 15). Cost is $8 per class or $60 for 10 classes. For ages 14 to adult. Fairview Recreation Complex, 799-9331.
Jazzercise: Instructor Jennifer Rocco blends aerobics, Pilates and kickboxing movements into a fun dance routine set to fresh music. Teens and adults of all fitness levels welcome. Classes meet through Feb. 27 (no class Feb. 15). Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, 9:30-10:30 a.m.; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 5:30-6:30 p.m.; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 6:30-7:30 p.m.; and new class Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Jazzercise Lite: Tuesdays/Thursdays, 8:45-9:45 a.m. New time and a lighter version of the original Jazzercise program that combines moderate aerobics with exercises designed to improve your strength, balance and flexibility. Fairview Seniors Group
The Fairview Senior Citizens Group meets Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Senior Room at the Fairview Recreation Complex. Rook players meet before the 10:30 a.m. Bingo game. A pool table is also available before and after the meetings. A covered dish luncheon is held on the first Tuesday of each month and a business meeting takes place every second Tuesday. Scaledown: Learn how to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle in this free class. Scaledown is an eight-week health education and weight loss support program. Learn about portion sizes, my pyramid, physical activity and more. Scaledown is a free program that meets Tuesdays, Feb. 2-23, 6-6:30 p.m. at the Fairview Recreation Complex, 2714 Fairview Blvd. For ages high school to adult. Guitar Lessons: Guitar lessons for beginners at affordable prices. Anyone can learn to play in this class. Bring your guitar and tuner to class. Classes are on Thursdays, through Feb. 25. Victorian Patch Pillow: Design your own beautiful pillow in this two-session class. Using scrap material, piece together your favorite fabrics like silks and velvets to create a traditional Victorian patch pillow. Little Ones Imagination: Children ages 3-6 years old will enjoy this regular art class every second Friday of each month. Art activities will stimulate the imagination as kids explore many different art forms. Kids can make three or four different crafts during the class. Kids’ Scrapbooking Album: Create an album in the “This Scrapbook is all about…” series. If desired, bring 10-15 of your favorite photos (copies only). You can make the scrapbook without photos too. Make a 12-page 6x6 scrapbook that is all about you, family or friends. Kids’ Scrapbooking meets Saturday, Feb. 13, 10 a.m. to noon or Monday, Feb. 22, 6-8 p.m. For kids ages 8-12. American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training: This class will give participants ages 11-15 the skills and confidence they need to supervise children and infants and perform basic childcare skills like diapering and feeding. The course covers training in choosing age-appropriate games and toys, identifying safety hazards, prevention and care of common injuries and how to find and interview for babysitting jobs. Instructor Cyndea Wendell offers the class on Saturday, Feb. 27, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Fairview Recreation Complex. Cost is $50 per person. Bring a sack lunch to class. Valentine Art for all ages at Fairview Recreation Complex
Scrapbooking -“My Valentine” Theme: Celebrate Valentines Day by making a handmade album in this scrapbooking class. Leave class with a one-of-a-kind 6x6-inch paper bag album with 12 pages and lots of pockets. Add embellishments like colorful ribbons, 3-D handmade decorations and more to customize your scrapbook. The class meets Monday, Feb, 8, 6-8 p.m. at the Fairview Recreation Complex. The class is $10 a person, plus a $15 supply fee per person. All materials provided. Door prize drawing. For adults. Young Champions Cheer program at Fairview Rec. Complex
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department announces the return of the Young Champions cheer and pom program at the Fairview Recreation Complex, 2714 Fairview Blvd. Young Champions combines cheerleading and pom routines into one program. Students will learn cheers and chants with arm motions, leaps, jumps and mounts. Pom dance and pom parade routines will also be taught. Students will showcase a dance routine and a cheer to earn a collectible trophy and achievement ribbon based on their performance in the class.
Young Champions is a 15-week program, meeting Thursday nights, through May 13. Classes are divided by age: Level one, 4-6 years old, meets 5-5:45 p.m.; Level two, 7-9 years old, 6-6:45 p.m.; Level three, 10-15 years old, 7-7:45 p.m. The cost is $7 per week or $105 for the entire session. Lifeguard training offered at County Recreation Centers
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department will offer comprehensive lifeguard training in February, March, April and May at two system facilities. Registration takes place at the center where the class is being held and must be made in person. Participants must be 15 years of age on or before the final day of the course. A pre-course swim test will be given.
Upon successful completion of the course, two American Red Cross certifications are awarded: Lifeguard Training with First Aid (good for three years), CPR for the professional rescuer, which includes Adult/Child AED Essentials (good for one year). CPR and Lifeguard re-certification are also being offered.
