BREAKING NEWS: One home destroyed, two others damaged in overnight fire in Fieldstone Farms No Injuries Reported

Franklin Firefighters responded to a house fire on Burlington Pass about 1:52 a.m. Monday in Fieldstone Farms. That same neighborhood had been evacuated the previous day due to flooding. Firefighters battled the flames in four feet deep water and were able to contain the fire within about 20 minutes. One home was destroyed. A second home received severe damage and another home received minor damage. Two occupants were in the adjacent home and were able to get out before firefighters arrived on the scene.  No injuries were reported.

“These were extremely hazardous conditions for our firefighters, with flames 35 feet in the air,” said Fire Chief Rocky Garzarek. “Our fire team has been working around the clock for the last 48 hours. I am proud they were able to contain this fire to only three homes.”

Interviews of witnesses at the scene indicate an explosion occurred in the garage. Fire investigators are on the scene to determine the cause.

Gas and electricity have been cut off to approximately four streets in that neighborhood, including Burlington Pass, Glastonbury, part of Lexington and Essex Park Circle to prevent further risk.

Shortly after the fire was contained at Fieldstone, Franklin Firefighters were called to Arrington to perform a swift water rescue on McDaniel Road. Franklin Firefighters rescued one victim who drove into deep standing water and two Arrington Volunteer Firefighters who had attempted an earlier rescue..
