Wine Down Main Street set for Friday, Nov. 2

The 12th annual Wine Down Main Street is set for Friday, Nov. 2. The “Best Night Out All Year” will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The street will be closed to traffic from Second Avenue to Five Points at Fifth Avenue beginning at 4 p.m.

General Admission tickets are $85 per person. Tickets include all wine, beer and food tastings. A complete wine list will be available online at

The layout provides a more condensed venue and easier accessibility for attendees to visit all the participating merchant locations. The event will be focused on Main Street, but will run from Fifth Avenue to the Square at Third Ave. and include shops along the side streets of Fourth and Third avenues.

For 2012, Main Street will again be closed from Second Avenue to Fifth Avenue with all the food providers being set up in the Public Square and throughout Main Street. Thirty-seven shops and businesses participated last year along with 22 restaurants.

Lipman presents Wine Down Main Street in conjunction with Franklin’s Main Street Merchants. Each year, a specially designed wine glass is created for event participants to sample wines in more than 20 shops along Main Street throughout the evening.  Patrons will also receive a wristband that allows them access to the food areas where local restaurants and caterers will be set up.

Participating shops this year include Binks Outfitters, Boutique MMM, Capital Bank, Dion’s South, Ecco Salon, Emmalines Boutique, Faye Snodgrass Gallery, Fifth Third Bank, Franklin Mercantile, Franklin Tea, Good Findings Inc, Haven, Hey Day, Iron Gate, Jondie, Johnnie Q, Lulu, Merridees, Patchwork Pantry, Puryear, Newman & Morton, Puckett’s, Registry, Serendipity Skincare and Cosmetics, Shoppes on Main, The Red House, The Shop Around the Corner, Vue Optique and Walton’s Jewelry.
