Evins named chief medical officer at Williamson Medical Center

Williamson Medical Center recently promoted Dr. Starling C. Evins, chief of staff of 17 years, to the newly created position of chief medical officer.

In this new role, Evins will serve as a liaison between WMC’s administration and the medical staff to develop and foster a fully functioning clinically integrated network, according to information provided to the media.

Evins, who joined WMC’s staff nearly 30 years ago, is a board-certified urologist. Evins is no longer seeing patients and will focus on his new role at WMC full time.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my role as Williamson Medical Center’s chief of staff,” Evins said. “And look forward to the additional challenges and opportunities this new role will present.”

Donald Webb, WMC’s CEO, said Evins serving in his new role will benefit the hospital and the community.

“To have someone with Dr. Evins’ experience be able to focus his energy full time on the medical team in this hospital is such a gift,” Webb said.

Replacing Evins as chief of staff is Dr. Samuel Bastian, an internist/pediatrician who is formerly the vice chief of staff under Evins. Dr. Heather Rupe, an obstetrician and gynecologist with Women’s Group of Franklin, will replace Evins as chief of staff.

Williamson Medical Center, a 185-bed hospital fully accredited by The Joint Commission, provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care including emergency services, with credentialed physicians in 53 specialties and sub-specialties. The community-focused hospital offers a wide range of wellness services, screenings and classes.
