Segway donates two Patrollers to area law enforcement

Roger Brown, Brentwood resident and new owner of New Hampshire-based Segway Inc., recently donated a new Segway i2 Patroller to the Brentwood Police Department and one the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Segway of Tennessee distributor Jon Worstell, a former WCS deputy, presented the two-wheeled vehicle to Sheriff Jeff Long and several members of his staff Tuesday afternoon and to Chief Jeff Hughes and the Brentwood Police Department last week.

Long said his specially trained deputies will use the Segway to patrol special events like the upcoming Franklin Rodeo and the Williamson County Fair. School Resources are also being trained to use the vehicle at school events.

“This is new to us, but we’re anxious to start utilizing it and see where we can use it,” Hughes said.
