Pipe collapse forces South Carothers road closure

South Carothers Road will be closed from Arno Road to Cedarmont Drive until the latter part of next week according to Williamson County Road Superintendent Eddie Hood. Due to heavy rains Sunday night, an underground pipeline located at South Carothers Road collapsed.

"The pipe was most likely 40 to 50 years old and probably rusty," Hood said. "Because of the heavy rain and rock on the roadbed, it to gave way."

Due to utilities and phone lines located at the pipeline, crews worked to remove poles. The next step for crews will be to replace the pipe.

"In the morning we will start digging," Hood said.
