American flag travels from Afghanistan to fly over Carter House

Battle of Franklin Trust COO Eric A. Jacobson will host the raising of an American flag from Afghanistan at The Carter House, 1140 Columbia Pike, Franklin, Thursday, August 29 at 9:30 a.m.

The national ensign flew above U.S. troops serving at Forward Operating Base Sharana in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on June 6. It was flown by Task Force Wolverine, FOB Sharana, Paktika Province, Afghanistan, in honor of the Battle of Franklin Trust.
“This particular flag has special significance to the Trust,” said Jacobson.  “Leighton Munsch is currently serving in Afghanistan.  His wife, Olivia, has worked for the Trust as a historical interpreter for approximately two years.”

First Lieutenant Munsch, 1st Squadron 89th Cavalry Regiment, was deployed to Sharana earlier this year.  He will be reunited with Olivia after nine months this October.

The public is invited to attend the raising of the American flag which will fly at The Carter House beginning August 29 through much of September.
