Franklin Housing Authority approved for housing voucher program
The Franklin Housing Authority has been awarded 42 Housing Choice Vouchers which may be used to assist low-income families in their search for affordable housing in the Williamson County area. Housing can include single-family homes, townhouses and apartments and is not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects.
Housing choice vouchers are administered locally by the Franklin Housing Authority. Applications will be taken from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning August 30th at the Franklin Housing Authority office at 200 Spring Street and will close Sept. 20, 2013 at 4 p.m. Applicants will be placed on a waiting list pending the issuance of the funding for the program anticipated in September.
For more than 55 years, the Franklin Housing Authority has provided affordable, safe housing for low and moderate-income families in Franklin, Tenn. FHA operates 253 public housing units serving nearly 700 residents. Funded through rental income and subsidies from the Department of Housing & Urban Development, FHA also supports partnerships with programs that foster economic self-sufficiency for residents.
