Obituary: Wade C. Jones
Wade C. Jones, age 84, of Shelbyville, Tenn. formerly of Franklin, Tenn, died Oct. 1, 2013. He was a veteran U.S. Army Sergeant who served in the Korean War and received two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and the Medal of Valor.
Jones was a renowned local baseball player who at one time received a contract to play for the Cincinnati Reds. He was the owner and operator of Atlas Septic Service. He retired from Mid State Steel Co. He was a member of the American Legion Post 23 Shelbyville.
He is survived by wife of 34 years, Marjorie Poteete Jones of Shelbyville, Tenn.; sons, Terry (Ramona) Jones of Nashville, Tenn. and Jimmy (Shawna) Jones of Shelbyville, Tenn.; brothers, Amos Jones of Christiana, Tenn. and Joe Paul Jones of College Grove, Tenn.; sister, Ruth Alderson of Thompson’s Station, Tenn.; grandchildren, Josh, Melea, Sarah, Lillie Beth, Katelynn Bettywade, Emily Elizabeth, Joseph, Cody, Marie, Eddie, Jennifer Michelle and Jonathan; great grandchildren, Alexia, Hayden and Tanner.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Bro. William Chester officiating. Interment, Williamson Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers: Frank, Jr., Jackie and Stanley Jones, Greg Jones, David Jones, Bubba Maddox, Kenny Newsome, Mike Newsome and Charlie Newsome. Honorary pallbearers: George Tomlin, Jr. and Ernest King. Memorials may be made to Enon Primitive Baptist Church in Unionville, Tenn.
