Car accident on Cottonwood Lane leads to injuries

A vehicle with a single occupant was involved in a car accident this morning on Cottonwood Lane in Franklin. The driver of the 1999 Acura, Harrison H. Enkema, 18, of Franklin was wearing his seatbelt when the car crashed.
Traveling westbound on Cotton Lane, Enkema exited the roadway from the right shoulder.
According to reports from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver over corrected his steering crossed back over Cotton Lane then went into the air striking a tree with the roof of the vehicle on the road’s left shoulder. The vehicle was suspended over the Harpeth River that runs next to Cotton Lane.
Enkema was charged with a DUI and reckless driving. He was taken by ground to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
A Vanderbilt Medical Center public information officer said that Enkema was in critical condition as of 11:50 a.m. today.
